The Telegram founder is accused of:
complicity in the administration of an online platform to conduct illegal transactions;
refusing to provide authorities with information to intercept communications;
complicity in the possession and distribution of child pornography;
complicity in the possession and trafficking of narcotics;
complicity in trafficking in computer interference equipment (hacking);
complicity in organised fraud;
criminal conspiracy;
laundering the proceeds of crime;
providing cryptographic privacy services without a declaration of conformity;
providing cryptographic services that provide more than authentication and monitoring without a declaration of conformity;
importing a cryptographic device without prior declaration.
This move by French authorities appears to be an effort to undermine Telegram, one of the last platforms supporting true freedom of communication. Taking Pavel Durov down could lead to the loss of Telegram, threatening our last bastion of free speech. Stand with freedom of speech—don’t let them take it away!
